Book blurb:
Buddha meditated for six years, and Shiva had his mountain. Could there be a drug that might induce enlightenment? A substance that could cause us to attain a heightened state of consciousness, the gaining of a perspective that perforates this veil of maya, revealing the divine in us and others a well? One that makes us perceive that the biggest problem of the world isn’t global warming, air pollution, or overpopulation, but is a global demented state of consciousness, the demon of ignorance that has ingested this whole wide world? Ananya synthesizes such a divine drink with immense difficulty, and tends it with great care—but the attainment of power often brings its abuse. It an attempt to beat the demon outside, he mutes all the voices contrary to his ambition including his much-revered intuition. He fails miserably but his torture endures. Does his indulgence keep Ananya entangled in the web of illusion, or will he emerge a true, conscious being, devoid of all attachments? Is the answer he has to discover for himself.

My Review:
The Perfect Drug by Chaitanya Saini is a story of an ambitious boy who gets enrolled in an auspicious St. Stephen’s College of Delhi. Later, he fell in love with a girl in the same city and gets heartbroken.
He then formulates a drug “The Perfect Drug” that holds the capabilities to enhance his mental abilities and helps him see and fathom out the world with different prospective.

Narration and Characterisation- Narration is lucid yet rich. I adore the author’s selection of words. His research in chemistry and other fields for building up the plot is seen in the whole book.
Characterisation made the book bit complicated. There were many characters that has confused me at some points; but overall its intriguing.

Also, it’s a long and a slow read, you’ll have to grasp each page with immense patience. It took me almost 2 weeks to complete the book but it was worth it.

Recommended for: the one’s who are looking for a unique genre with spirituality and divinity.

Thanks to the author for sending me the review copy.✨
